Three weeks ago we held our biggest protest of the year for the second year running. Warmongers once again came to our town to make their bloody deals. And once again we stood against them.
This year our turnout was much more impressive. I have to thank every one of our loyal supporters for getting the word out and turning up on the day in solidarity. National PSC were kind enough to share our event, so we saw some new faces too. People had travelled from all over the country to stand with us.
This time we also saw the press. We were interviewed by a local channel. You can see that here.
Unfortunately the arms conference was wrapping up by the time we were set up. The deals had already been done. This was a few hours earlier than the conference was planned to end. Whether they knew we would be there and cut things short, one can only speculate. Now we know for sure if we want to disrupt even further, we need to be there both days, and earlier.
We’re already planning our next event. We want to make it even bigger, even louder, and even more disruptive (but still peaceful of course)
I would like to take the time to thank all the groups that have been along for the ride. West Surrey PSC, Woking for Palestine, Friends of the Earth, The Quakers, War On Want, Campaign Against the Arms Trade, and many more.
